How to Use the Pantry Tracker
Know what's already in the house before you shop for more.
Pantry tracks food you already have at home, separately from your shopping list — useful for catching things before they expire and for feeding ingredients into What to Cook.
Step by step
- 1
Add an item
Enter a name, choose a category, and optionally set an expiry date, then save it.
- 2
Search and filter
Use the search box or the category filter to narrow a long pantry down to what you're looking for.
- 3
Watch the expiry labels
Items with an expiry date show "Expires in N days" as that date approaches, and switch to "Expired" once it passes.
- 4
Edit or remove an item
Update the quantity, category or expiry date on any item, or delete it once it's gone.
Tips
- Set an expiry date on anything perishable when you add it — that's what powers the "expiring soon" warning; items without a date never show one.
- Use the category filter to do a quick pantry check by section (e.g. just the freezer or just spices) instead of scrolling the whole list.
Frequently asked questions
Is Pantry the same list as Grocery?
No — Pantry is what you already have at home; Grocery is your shopping list. They're tracked separately.
What happens when an item expires?
It's labelled "Expired" in the list — it isn't removed automatically, so you can still see and clear it yourself.
