How to Use What to Cook (AI Recipe Generator)
List what you have, get recipes back.
What to Cook takes the ingredients you type in — plus optional filters and your Nutrition Profile — and returns a set of AI-generated recipe suggestions built around them.
Step by step
- 1
Add your ingredients
Type each ingredient you have into the Ingredients field and add it to the list. You can add as many as you want before generating.
- 2
Set filters (optional)
Choose a Diet filter (Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten-Free, Keto, Paleo, Dairy-Free, Low-Carb, High-Protein, or All), a Time filter (Under 15 min, Under 30 min, Under 1 hour), and a Difficulty (Easy, Medium, Hard). All are optional — leave them on "All" to skip filtering.
- 3
Fine-tune with the profile wizard (optional)
Open the wizard to add allergies, weight and height (used to compute your BMI), your goal, and ingredients you like or want to avoid — these sharpen the suggestions beyond what your saved Nutrition Profile already provides.
- 4
Generate
Tap Find Recipes. Results appear as a grid of recipe cards once generation finishes.
- 5
Add a result to your calendar
From the results, use Add to Calendar to place a generated recipe directly into a Meal Plan slot without leaving the page.
Free vs. Pro limits
Like AI Chat, the free plan includes a daily limit on generations; reaching it shows an upgrade prompt rather than more results. Signed-in Pro has a separate daily limit that resets at midnight UTC.
Tips
- You must add at least one ingredient before Find Recipes becomes clickable.
- If you arrive here from a recipe or pantry page with ingredients already in the URL and you're signed in, generation can start automatically — no need to re-type them.
- The nutrition numbers on generated recipes are AI estimates, not lab-measured values.
Frequently asked questions
What happens if I don't set any filters?
Leaving Diet, Time and Difficulty on their default ("All") just means results aren't narrowed by those — you'll still get suggestions built from your ingredients.
Does filling in the profile wizard change my saved Nutrition Profile?
No — the wizard fields here are used just for this generation request; your saved profile (under Account → Nutrition Profile) is separate and unaffected unless you edit it there.
Can I save a generated recipe for later?
Use Add to Calendar to place it on your Meal Plan, which is also how it ends up logged once you mark it cooked.
