How to Use the Meal Plan Calendar

Plan a week of meals, one slot at a time.

The Meal Plan is a weekly calendar with four slots per day — Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Snack. You fill each slot by searching your recipe library, and marking a slot as cooked logs it to your Cook History.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Open Meal Plan

From the app sidebar, go to Meal Plan. You'll see the current week with a day selector across the top and the four meal slots for whichever day is selected.

  2. 2

Add a recipe to a slot

Tap the add button on any slot (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner or Snack) to open the recipe search sheet. Type to search, then tap a result to place it in that slot.

  3. 3

    Mark a meal as cooked

Once you've actually made it, toggle the meal to "cooked". This logs the meal to Cook History with a timestamp, and un-toggling it removes that log entry.

  4. 4

    Move between weeks

Use the previous/next arrows to page a week at a time. Your plan for past and future weeks is saved — paging away and back doesn't lose anything.

  5. 5

    Remove a meal

Remove any slot item you no longer want on the plan — it comes off the calendar but the recipe itself stays in your library.

How marking a meal "cooked" connects to the rest of the app

Cooking a meal from the calendar does two things elsewhere in the app: it adds an entry to Cook History (with the time you cooked it), and — if you've turned on Auto-Decrement in Grocery — it subtracts that recipe's ingredients from your grocery list automatically.

  • See every meal you've actually cooked, in order, in Cook History.
  • Turn on Auto-Decrement in the Grocery tool if you want cooking to update your list without manual editing.

Tips

  • The recipe search only searches recipes — add something to Saved or find it in the recipe library first if it's not turning up.
  • Marking a meal cooked is what feeds Cook History; adding a recipe to a slot without cooking it does not.

Frequently asked questions

Can I plan more than one week at a time?

Yes — paging forward with the next-week arrow lets you plan as far ahead as you like; each week is saved independently.

What happens if I remove a recipe from a slot after marking it cooked?

Removing the slot item doesn't remove the Cook History entry that was already logged — those are separate records once created.

Does adding a recipe to the calendar also add its ingredients to my grocery list?

Not automatically on add. The grocery connection happens when you mark the meal cooked, and only if Auto-Decrement is turned on in the Grocery tool.
